Experience elephants, temples, snake show, viewpoints and more fun around Mae Rim!

There are many touristic locations and activities around Chiang Mai. In this post we give you our recommendations and insights for doing a trip in the area of Mae Rim, which is north of Chiang Mai city. Mae Rim is easily accessible by motorbike or car and offers a wide variety of activities to easily spend a full day of fun.

Tip: combine Mae Rim with a visit to the Sticky Waterfalls.

    • Maerim Bee Garden (free to visit bee garden, with great organic honey products like food, drinks and cosmetics)
    • Elephant POOPOOPAPER Park (park that shows how paper products are made/up-cycled from elephant poop)
    • Wat Pa Dara Phirom Phra Aram Luang (free to visit beautiful Buddhist temple)
    • King Cobra Chiang Mai Show (watch and touch snakes and reptiles and watch the great King Cobra show)
    • Mae Sa Waterfall (nature park with waterfall, eat something and chill, or hike to the different levels)
    • Pong Yaeng Jungle Coaster & Zipline (go on a more adventurous trip in the mountains)
    • Horse riding stable, Maerim (ride horses at this professional stable with beautiful surrounding views)
    • Phoenix Adventure Park (adventure park with different activities, like zip lining, high rope walking course, sheep farm, etc.)
    • Siam Insect Zoo (impressive and fun insect zoo)
  • Parks and Nature
    • *The Canopy Walks (elevated jungle walk)
    • *Queen Sirikit Botanic Garden (botanical garden)
    • *Natural Science Museum (museum)
      • *These 3 activities are accessible from the same road and there is a single, total price, to access and visit these activities.
    • Mon Jam (small mountain village with beautiful flower garden and views)

    • Nong Hoi Royal Project Vegetable Development Center (great organic food, great views, amazing location)
    • Phi Maeo Khao Soi (small, local and non-touristic, but with delicious ‘khao soi’ chicken or beef)
    • ROASTER LAB (excellent (western) food and drinks)
    • Hoo Coffee (cute wooden coffeeshop with beautiful view)
    • Pong Yaeng Phirom Café (beautiful viewpoint over the valley)
