Early Owls garden cafe

Coffee and light meals in a wooden house and leafy garden with a pond north of Chiang Mai's Old City.

Updated 25 October 2026

Early Owls feels like a garden break tucked into Chang Phueak, north of Chiang Mai’s Old City. A wooden house opens onto a lawn, shade trees and a pond. You can settle in with coffee, a cold drink or something to eat, and enjoy the outdoor space without leaving the city.

A wooden house and a garden

The cafe has seats inside the wooden house, on its deck and out in the garden. The pond and lawn are what make it memorable: you can sit beneath the trees and still see the house through the greenery. Visitors have also enjoyed sitting on the grass, although the available seating can vary.

It can feel peaceful on a quiet day and sociable when more people gather outside. Either way, the garden gives Early Owls a different atmosphere from a street-front coffee shop.

Drinks and something to eat

Coffee is part of the appeal, but you do not need to be a coffee drinker to enjoy the place. The menu has included tea, fruit drinks and smoothies, along with cakes and other desserts. There have also been light meals and brunch-style options, so it can work for more than a quick drink. The Early Owls Facebook page is a useful place to see recent menu photos and updates.
