Boonsom Spirulina Farm and Green Cup
Discover spirulina grown near Chiang Mai, with Boonsom drinks at city outlets and farm visits by arrangement.
Updated 27 October 2026
Boonsom grows spirulina at its farm in Mae Wang, south of Chiang Mai. A farm visit offers a closer look at this unusual local ingredient, while Boonsom’s city outlets make it easy to try a drink without leaving Chiang Mai.
See how it is grown
The main Boonsom Spirulina Farm is where the spirulina is cultivated. Visits to see the production ponds and learn about the growing process have been offered by arrangement. If you would like to go, contact Boonsom directly about a farm visit; the city cafes below are an easy alternative for tasting its products.
What makes spirulina interesting?
Spirulina is a blue-green microorganism grown for food. In dried form it is rich in protein and contains iron, beta-carotene and phycocyanin, the pigment behind its deep colour. That mix of nutrients is part of its appeal as an ingredient in drinks and food. The US National Library of Medicine has a useful overview of its composition.

Researchers have also studied spirulina supplements for possible effects on blood pressure and cholesterol. Some trials suggest modest benefits, but a review of clinical studies says the clinical significance is still uncertain. A drink here is an enjoyable way to try a locally grown ingredient, not a treatment for a health condition.

Try Boonsom around Chiang Mai
The farm is not the only place to taste Boonsom’s products. Green Cup by Boonsom Farm near Chiang Mai Land offers a city cafe stop for smoothies, juices and other drinks.

There is also Boonsom Homemade Spirulina Bar at Central Chiang Mai Airport. Its counter brings Boonsom products into the shopping centre, so you can try them without a trip out to the farm.

The outlet has served spirulina soft-serve too, alongside drinks and other treats. It is another playful way to discover what the locally grown ingredient can become.
