Watching Muay Thai in Chiang Mai

An evening at Kalare Boxing Stadium, close to the Night Bazaar in Chiang Mai.

Updated 23 October 2026

Chiang Mai has several Muay Thai stadiums, but we think Kalare Boxing Stadium is one of the better choices for an evening out. It sits in the lively Night Bazaar area, with markets, food, drinks and music close by. You can explore the neighbourhood before the fights or stay out afterwards.

What you are watching

Muay Thai is more than the bouts themselves. Before a fight, each boxer performs the wai khru ram muay, a ritual with traditional music and movement. The atmosphere changes through the night as the bouts get more competitive.

Fight-night details

Fights usually begin around 20:30–21:00. You can ask a local tour operator about tickets, seating and prices or visit Kalare Boxing Stadium directly.

Grab or another ride-hailing service can take you to the Night Bazaar area. For the journey back, you can use a ride-hailing car again or take a tuk-tuk.

Around the Night Bazaar

The Chiang Mai Night Bazaar is a vibrant area for an evening stroll. Around the stadium you will find markets, food and drinks, souvenirs and music. You can wander through the area before or after the fights; our Night Markets guide covers more markets across Chiang Mai.
